  1. For someone who never draws food, these are really fantastic! You have a solid sense of light and color and I love seeing that as a tool to render the textures of the cheesecake without the help of linework. I dig the variations in color you have going on as well, and suggesting shading without the use of black but instead using different hues or shades of the same color. Great work!

  2. Trina! I'm not sure how I missed this one of yours! I wanted to make sure I got you some feeback! These are really nice! I love the painterly quality. I think you did a really great job getting the planar analysis and some great lighting on these. One thing I think is really successful is the way that you're able to get some nuanced colors -- a really nice blended look in the frosting / icing / berries -- where you have a bit of the color running into another color. I'm actually pretty shocked that you were able to get the blending modes like this in Photoshop and not painter! It's really hard to get painterly looking photoshop paintings - particualrly those that look like you're blending on the canvas. Either way, I think this is a great method and I'd continue to use it if you enjoy it! I think these are a great little series - really gestural, really painterly -- and very tasty looking.
