Soooo, I didn't get as much work done as I would have liked, and I'm not really feeling the colors in my first patterns. But I'm working on a second set of patterns, which is in the screenshot. Mostly just doing vines right now, but I think I'll probably put some sort of creatures and other things on them. I also want to do a different type of pattern besides that one too.

  1. I actually really dig your use of color in all of your patterns Your main one is well executed and I'm excited to see how your coordinate patterns will turn out. The only thing I would change is that some of the yellow/navy bats are slightly too clustered together - dispersing them more throughout the lighter colored bats would help a lot.

  2. These are looking good so far! The color choice is unique and your bats are very well rendered. Some of the icons do tend to get a little bit lost with the background on the top one however, but if contrasted from the icons just a pinch, it might help them pop out!

  3. I think these actually look really awesome. I think the color palette works really well, I just think playing around with the lightness of the background color might help it a bit, the color combination as a whole works, but the background color right now makes it a little hard to see some of the tan spots in the bats, I think that's an easy fix though.

  4. Good work! You choose some really interesting colors. My favourite pattern is the one with the blue background and the mosquito silhouette.

  5. awesome bats! i love it. but the belly on the bats gets a little lost in the background color in the one, so maybe trying a different color for that, otherwise its super cool

  6. I think your colors blend in too much together, especially on the first pattern. It's hard to tell the bat from the background. You have a good variation of size in the pattern that works really well. I think you could do a lot more with the second pattern with the bugs, it seems very static.

  7. I really like what you have so far, and your affinity for bats. The color use gives me a bit of a negative-image feel, and I like the idea of the predator/prey thing (at least I think that's what you were intending?)
I'm excited to see these finished.

  8. I really love the bat pattern!! The drawings are really nice and the spacing works really well! I think that you probably do need a different color palette for the collection, (maybe just a few more de-saturated colors mixed in with some of the vibrant ones? Maybe the brown gets a bit darker and desaturated? I think that having a more neutral background (that is either WAY darker, or just more desaturated) would help make them show up more! I love the way they're flying around the pattern, though - really awesome! I think that you should totally finish the chinoiserie pattern - not only is it an awesome layout, but I think the start of what you have looks really exciting - and would be an awesome complement to the toss pattern. The two other patterns you have, have sort of a similar look to the bat one (in organization) so having something a bit less toss-like would be a great option!
