Landscape

Screen Shot 2014-10-15 at 10.47.57 PM

This piece was the first one that I did in class last week, I got really behind during the demo but I think I fixed or at least improved on the other two pieces of the series. Screen Shot 2014-10-15 at 10.47.37 PM

This was my nighttime version, I had fun with the gradient and blur tools while making this. Screen Shot 2014-10-15 at 10.47.20 PM

This was my weird Nausicca Valley of the Windish version, I was kind of trying to create a sort of toxic jungle type of environment.

And here's my magic UFO.

  1. I really dig the colors you're working with, but I think in some instances where it looks like the blob brush was being use really detract from the vibrance and clarity of the landscape. Some layers will look suspended over an area, like the dark gradient over the rock in your practice landscapes. You can see some of this same gradient creeping up on the UFO and clipping its general shape. The magic beams from your UFO would also stand out if the edges were smoothed over. Just recreating some of these moments with a steadier tool would make it pop and bring out the nice colors and shapes you already have going on!

  2. Super contrasting colors! I honestly like the color scheme, but the blurry splotches throughout the pieces may have been a bit overdone. Sharpen things up and maybe add some details to the buildings (lights, maybe), and it'll look really good.
