I was gone last week so I didn't know what was needed for today. When I tried working on the patter I made before, my illustrator shut down and none of my changes saved. So this is a quick pattern that I did in class.
Hastily improvised, but still came out nicely considering the circumstances. The patterns are pretty straightforward in their design, but your usage of color gives them a vibrancy that helps make up for it's shortcomings- the biggest of which I would say is how impersonal it feels. The pattern is almost too approachable- it lacks it's own identity. But given how you came up with it on the spot, it still turned out okay.
This pattern makes me think of some kind of heat map and its actually super rad, im excited to see where you go with this. You should keep the color pallet you have and play around with the size of the icons you plan to use.
I really enjoy how it reminds me of a heat signature, like Anne said. The icons are really interesting as well and make me think I'm looking at some sort of cross section of an organ or mushroom or something along those lines. I think just playing around with your shapes, and maybe varying the sizing in your pattern would help to break it up.
This thing's intense, I love your color palette. This is one of those designs where it's hard to focus on one place and yet you can't stop looking at it. I bet you could play around with the saturation and stuff on it too, with a more subdued scheme it would have a real 70's carpeting look
For a quick pattern these are actually pretty nice. I'm excited to see where you take these - I would love to see more of the blue popping out, seeing as its being heavily dominated by the reds and yellows.
This two patterns reminds me of decorate ceramic tile from India or Africa. I think the color choice is simple but well made. You have a really strong and powerfull red near a greenish blue and they are really great together.
So sad that your AI quit on you! What a bummer. I'm totally excited to see what you come up with! I'll wait to see the combination of this one with the next! This one is really neat - looks like tin tiles - or a Moroccan tilework feeling!
