Confusion with the required dimensions. I ended up making it landscape... oops.

Tzabel Illustrator final Here's my final Illustrator stuff! When making our in-class backgrounds, I did have a bit of trouble with computer slowdowns from Illustrator becoming bogged down with an overusage of Gaussian blurs, so I just kind of tried to get them done without killing my laptop. Out of class, I made sure not to go overboard on blurring, and only use it where the objects most needed them. It's difficult thinking about shapes of color independently from one another, and that's probably one of the biggest challenges when making such a big piece in Illustrator alone.

  1. I enjoy looking at this one- there are a lot of great subtle color gradients in the snow banks that keep said banks from appearing flat, and suggests a hill landscape. The variation in the tree colors helps keep it really interesting too. All in all really great use of color in this piece- it really makes it shine. My one qualm however is that I think the fantasy elk might be a little too detailed- I want to focus on it instead of the environment and while there normally is nothing wrong with that, I'm worried it conflicts with the intent of the landscape assignment. But don't let that suggest anything bad about the work itself- it looks really good!

  2. I love your color choice! The way it works into the gradients and alternates between the trees and branches really make for an ethereal atmosphere. I actually like the detail in the elk - though I think it might be more appreciated in the sharper foreground or blurred slightly more where it currently is. Honestly, I prefer the former! I also dig the details on the branches in the foreground - the way the leaves arc toward the elk is probably one of my favorite moments.
