Landscapes

daytime afternoon magical
For these three landscapes I used a lot of gradients along with many blending layers to achieve the effect that I wanted. Then I played around with the opacity as well as the blur effects to create extra a few extra decorative effects.

  1. The foliage in the foreground takes what could have been a relatively plain landscape and turns it into something fantastical- the bubbles, gold'ish coloring and lightning bugs certainly help too! All in all they're very playful and whimsical, but I wanted to point out how there's a pretty jarring flat horizon line running across them that threatens to take me out of the image when I look. You did a good job concealing it in the night one with the shadow, but it's still pretty glaring in the other two. I think just spending a couple minutes going back and tweaking those would go a long way. But rest assured, it's still really fun to look at!

  2. Your organic structures in the foreground have so much shape and personality to them! The unique use of color in the first one works great with a nice balance of many complimentaries, and I almost wish the other two had as much variation, rather than being primarily hues of orangey warm tones, or dark blue ones. Agreed with what has been said above about the horizon line: it does tend to break up the composition a bit. But everything else is just lovely!

  3. the gradations, the balls of light, and the flowy bits in the front really bring this to life. i just wish there was a little more of that in the background.i like how its continued in the path in the middle ground.
