This my super late post for my second week assignment. I originally had a very complex drawing with many thin lines and decided to scrap my progress on it to go back and try to find a piece that would be easier to convert into Illustrator so I could better utilize the capabilities of the program. This piece was primarily composed with the pen tool. I'm excited to create an original piece designed to work with Illustrator's strengths.
I'm just gonna go ahead and critique this since we didn't get the chance in class! In all honesty, I wasn't able to tell which one was the illustrator piece (initially) simply because your style is so similar to it already. Some of the great line variation and weight in the first piece in lost in the remake, but t's still astoundingly spot on for still learning the pen tool. One last thing I noticed - the fork wasn't incorporated at all in the illustrator piece. It's not too distracting, but I think the fork added a splash of color that really complemented the palette in the original. Was there a technical reason for omitting it, or did you think it looked better without it?
ReplyDeleteHey Chase! Ok! I think that it's a great start! Maybe some of the things that we did in class today (week 3!) were helpful to try and get some of your line weight to mimic what you did in your original piece! I think it's called the width tool --- which is great! I think that the blob brush might also be another tool that might help! But! The nice thing about this piece is that you have a lot of great flat shapes and pretty much only a couple line weights to deal with to get the same kind of look! Ithink you're really close! Thanks for posting this!
