Patty Rodriguez 6x6 Monster

6x6monster

I mainly used the Polygon tool and Effect > Warp to achieve the shapes in this piece. Later in the project I ran into some issues with the clipping mask in conjunction with the warped shapes. After all the objects were all laid down, I realized that the clipping mask had to be placed before the object was warped, otherwise it would convert back to its original shape. It ended up being a time consuming issue backtracking all of the warp settings, but hopefully I find a way to resolve the issue by tonight! Until then, I will post the textures I intended to use and edit this post when it's resolved.

EDIT: Final product uploaded!

  1. You have some really elegant, smooth shapes and a beautiful color scheme overall. I also like how symmetrical and overall aesthetically pleasing it is. The textures that you have below it all look great too, I can't wait to see how you incorporate them!

  2. I really enjoy the design of the character, as well as the patterns you're planning on using. Did you draw those out or get them online? Either way I think this piece will look great with those textures, it's very cute. The symmetry also really works here.

  3. Really love the design of this guy Patti! For some reason it made me think of Becky and Frank's Capture Creatures project which I think you'd dig. Can't wait to see you apply those FLYYYYY textures. http://www.capturecreatures.com/

  4. Another really great character design on this assignment. Love the color scheme and can't wait to see it with the rest of the textures - already liking the choice on the antlers/horns.

  5. I picture this creature being in an arctic climate. I really like the antlers and snout of the animal. It's interesting that you were able to express a lot of characteristics of this creature using a few simple shapes and textures.

  6. I can't wait to see what this turns out like. I already like the texture you've added to the horns. The color scheme and the shapes you used are very simple, but really work well together.
