Pet Sematary poster Anne Lehman

This isn't my finished piece because I still need to add textures and whatnot. I used the blob tool, the eraser tool, the knife tool, line trace, the text tool, and the width tool most of the time. I still have some things with color to work out, like what the cat should look like and whatnot. All though I used a pretty simple design I'm still facing a ton of challenges with this project.

  1. Even though this isn't your final piece I really enjoy how it's turning out! The composition of the piece is really amazing and I really enjoy your use of shadow within it. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished!

  2. Aww Anne that cat is sooooo gross! Would love to see what you do with these textures. Love the symbol that's happening but right now it's feeling a bit flat. I think there's definitely some interesting stuff to be done there.

  3. I really enjoy how you handled the cemetery, the colors and shadows are nice, and it gives off scary vibes. I do wish the large area behind the cat was colored in someway, or at least had a texture to break up the white. I also feel like the text could have been played with more to really play up the horror aspect of the poster. Still, I think this is a good exploration, and there's definitely some spooky things going on here!

  4. Definitely starting to turn out looking cool! The foreground has to be my favorite part of this piece by far, it is awesome with its variation of color and harsh, exaggerated shadows! I hope you plan to thicken the lines on that glyph there in front of the cat, (and although I've never seen the movie so my opinion is probably way incorrect) I keep seeing it in my mind as a nice bold green or something. Just speaking out loud here now! I can see this being really neat by the time you've finished with it.

  5. For a second I was about to point out that you spelled cemetery wrong and then I realized I'm a dingus. Anyway, I'm really hopeful for how this turns out! The dramatic shadows are A+ and there's all sorts of good wonkiness going on from the cat/symbol in the center. Only thing I would point out is that the slug seems a bit off center and is leaning towards the right due to that guy's ridiculously long last name. Try kicking it down to the next line!

  6. I like the idea of this poster but I think it'll be nice to see the finished version. right now there are a couple areas that look kind of rough - where the colors go together at the seams of the images - there are little white specs that are happening and should be cleaned up a little along the edges (maybe just crop in a little). There's a typo in Stephen King's name on the first blurb -- Overall, I think that I could help you with some of the weird quirks that might be driving you crazy with Illustrator - Let's chat and maybe I can help you finish this one up so you can feel better about illustrator! Let me know if you have an update and I'll look for it when you post it!
