I made this monster guy using mostly the pen tool for his teeth, face, lips, and upper face piece then the ellipse tool for the eyes and ears. i tried a bunch of different types of line such as the red ones around his eyes and his mouth line and then again for the background.
Loving the unique use of all of those textures, this bear guy is very interesting looking! I didn't notice it at first, but there seems to be a dark line along the bottom of his face, but doesn't continue into his ears. I think I prefer how clean-cut it looks without the dark line, but I'm not sure if that was intentional. Still looking good!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a solid utilization of shapes that I don't think you even need the thin lines that are happening along the chin and around the lips. Also your deployment of textures is perf.
ReplyDeleteI really like this guy, you added textures in places i wouldntve expected there to be any, like the lips, and i think it worked really well to your advantage! I also think your color choices were really successful.
ReplyDeleteI think this piece has a striking use of texture (those eyes...!). I think the only thing that's bothering me about it, like others have said, is the odd line around the bottom portion of the jaw.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a handmade children's book monster. I like that you played around with different textures and shapes. Other than the outlines, I think this piece looks really good.
ReplyDeletemade corrections on the bottom one! thanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteI think the one on the bottom is great! One thing I like a lot is that you eliminated the outline on the bottom image -- it is really nice to see the textures back to back -- in fact, you have a lot of really nice textures applied to it. It's actually pretty funny looking at the scalloped mask that your creature has - it works really well because it's super vibrant against the natural colored "skin" color of the rest of his head. I also think that the subtle texture behind the whole image is a really nice touch, too. I'm glad you didn't just leave it a solid color because it adds a lot to the image.
