winter gif

steam-giff

  1. You've got a really nice movement happening with the steam of the cup. It spirals in a really fun way that really benefits this piece. I think it does seem to recede into the background a bit. Giving that just a bit more line weight would really help it pop.

  2. I really like the movement you gave the steam but it blends in a little with the background. I think that could easily be done with color, maybe making the back a little more blue with some subtle linework in the steam? The drawing itself is really nice though, i love the colors you used.

  3. I really like the quality of the illustration itself, you aced that part of it and it really sets the tone for your animated vapor trails- but as Chase said, I think it could be a little more defined and maybe cover some more ground, give the gif some more noticeable animation. Or instead maybe the snowfall could have been more intensified- in either case, you've got the right idea.

  4. This turned out really fantastic! Love the illustration. I do think the movements are a little choppy, but adding more frames in between the ones you already have should make it flow a bit smoother.

  5. As much as I've been pointing out choppy animation in other pieces, I think that the staggered movement in this piece is really nice. I think it harmonizes with the rough texture of the linework and gives off sort of a rustic, antiquated feel. The only hiccup I see is that some of the snowfall seems a bit static and snowflakes pause over multiple frames.

  6. I agree with Chris - I think in this case, the keyframes are really nice because they match the illustration style, almost like a comic panel (or animatic, actually). I think because the snow sort of fades in and out, it feels more natural as well and it doesn't bother me that the animation jumps a bit! I think that if you wanted to add some frames, it'd definitely make the jump from one steam drawing to another a bit more natural.I like where your painting is going as well - maybe you could add some texture back into the back of her sweater, I like the soft pastel-like quality of some of the snowy areas... it'd be cool to see that carried forward in the drawing itself in some of the more glossy looking areas. Very wintery!
