I'm not sure I fully grasped the photobashing technique, at least not compared to the guy in the video. I think it's an interesting way of doing things but I'm not entirely sure how to put it into play in my practice at this point. It's definitely good knowledge to have under my belt though.
I think that you did a really amazing job at photo bashing this together. I like how in your process shots you showed your process of adding the river within your piece, I think you were successfully able to implement the river in a really cohesive way. The river ended up being one of my favorite parts of this piece.
I think this looks pretty cool. I definitely think painting more in this would make it look more believable. I also think finding your lightest lights and your darkest darks within the entire piece would make it seem more uniform. A lot of it is light and it isn't quite believable.
this is super awesome, i love the lighting. its got a nice painterly quality in it and some really nice textures poke through. its also got a really nice flow to it. great composition
This really does look like a painting, which is great. I really like the brushes you used for some of the plant textures, and the cave wall where the light is hitting looks good. It looks like you were trying to add some stalactites to the top of the image, and I feel like those could use some refinement, but over all it looks worked over.
This is looking lovely. I honestly adore the light blue reflection of the water shining onto the rocky side of the cave in the second to last shot, and I wish that hadn't gotten lost in the process! Overall, this is a great use of atmospheric perspective and the layering of different brushes and colors is creates a beautiful and detailed result.
this is actually really cool, you blended the water perfectly, and the lighting is great. Your use of textured brushes also works really well for this. I think your painted spots are the best part and that this would look even better if you just painted the whole thing rather than leaving those photo elements in there.
I think this is a great start! I know it's a weird, hard technique because you're trying to think about textures in a different way than just collaging. I think you grasped the concept in the water, for sure! The other thing I think that you could try -- to make the process a bit more fun, is to cut everything up before starting, and then try to frankenstein it together to see what happens. That way you can move away from the original photo a bit more and allow yourself to play a bit. YOu did a great job working the painting part back into the photobash, which is great - I think that that texture helps make the piece feel more like an illustration. The brushes that you are using have a nice texture, maybe there is a way that you can also see if that top texture one can look a bit more natural - it's got a choppy angle on it? The yellow-ish one? Maybe scattering the custom brush a bit will help!

ReplyDeleteThe movement in this piece is sweet, the textures are really interesting, they look almost like a video game or something.
