I really dig the atmosphere in this. Having only the central figure move actually adds to the drama, because it feels like it and you are the only two things in the field, and you may or may not be welcome. As for movement, it looks really fluid and the limited animation is really successful in this context. It might be cool to add some breath or something when it looks at you, but that would just be if you had the time and interest.
I'm so amazed at how fast you can create an environment. This looks so good and mysterious. The animation works perfectly as well, because of the hesitance you put into the animation of the head. I kind of wish the deer monster thing lifted its head all the way up, then turned to look at the viewer.
the environment here is truly incredible. There's so much drama here. I love the fact that you waited a few seconds for there to be movement, It really shocks you when you view it for the first time.
This looks really cool. I love how little movement there is in the piece so that it's a little creepy when it does happen. It's very subtle, but it's very effective, especially with the dramatic environment you've set this in. One thing that would be cool to try, idk how if it'd be too hard, would be to add motion blurs. As if it's happening in slow motion and you can see the previous frame. It would add a dream like effect to it.
This is such a cool and sophisticated gif! Love the sense of depth and mystery you've achieved. Would love to see a series of these weird demon animals.
This is really great! I love the pacing, and the hovering to look at us -- it definitely sets the mood! I think that because you made him small and patient amongst the big environment, it makes the movement he does even better. I think that even in this gif you show a story unfolding, so it's not necessarily ambient, as much as it is a more tense moment that we get to pause and feel. I think you did a great job creating frames for this one as well, it's a very smooth transition. Love the idea and the execution.
I totally dig the pause at the beginning, because at first I thought it was only a still and then the moment it looks at you it's immediately 200% creepier. The blinking was a very nice touch, and for such a tiny detail it's really eye-catching (haha).
Somebody's been watching Hannibal. I seriously don't know how you make these environments, I'm jealous! But back to the gif- the animation itself is fluid and well timed, but the image has been freezing in place for me a couple times. This is more technical than anything else, but did you save it properly? It's a shame that what's an otherwise cool gif is getting bugged down with dodgy looping. Also, if you wanted to add to the creepy atmosphere, I'd suggest maybe having a cloud of fog creeping through the upper trees?
