i really enjoy the simplicity in this. i like that there are only like 3 colors. its super sketchy but with the movement it looks super cool. i think the blinking of the eye as she wakes up is awesome! i guess the only suggestion i have is to make it look more finished but the way it is now doesnt bother me eather
this looks really nice! the roughness of the movements actually helps this piece a lot, the speed is perfect. I really like how you rendered this piece, and the subtle color palette
I really like the loose style of this, and the limited color palette. It has a nice wintery vibe. The movement of the eye is really nice, especially the little blink. There's a slight hitch that happens in the movement of the branches when the gif loops, which is really only noticeable because it's right when the girl wakes up, so maybe adding like one tween layer or a couple reverse frames might make that a little smoother
I really like the objects you chose to animate, I think daylight is always a solid choice to try to imitate, the simple color pallet you chose to work with is also really cute and simple and it goes really well with the concept of sleep.
The shadows from the trees outside are really great! I think this has a somewhat choppy movement to it, but it fits with your sketchy style and still feels smooth. And it definitely looks like you have enough frames in there to have everything transition properly.
I like how you varied the pacing of the phone light to make it seem more realistic. I think this animation is really simple in its composition but really effective. The only thing that bothers me is the hue variation when the branches move. It's too strobe light like and takes away from the natural feel of everything else.
There is so much going on in this gif. It looks really great and the somewhat jumpy animation goes nicely with how you drew it. I also really like how you only used three colors.
I love that you animated the tree shadows! It's very atmospheric. I think going back in and making it smoother (much like Rebecca Mock's tree gif) would help tie this all together.
I really really like this one- it captures that moment of apprehension when you first wake up and you debate if today's really worth getting out of bed. Or maybe I'm inventing a sense of melancholy with that color palette- was it intended? Also, I would like to suggest using a tad bit of motion blur with the branches, since we're getting just the beams of sunlight and not the actual branches.
^ yeah, it's kind of about staying in bed all day and not answering any phone calls or texts-- just being content with existing in the middle of sleeping and being awake.

ReplyDeleteLove the mood and vibe of this piece! It reminds me so much of Jillian Tamaki's This One Summer which is some of the highest praise I can give.
