i used the blob tool and then pen tool to make the shapes, i also used a lot of gradients to create atmospherical effects. i also messed with the blur option in effects.

Last Illustrator Assignment

RoughIllTest
LastIllustrator - Progress1 LastIllustrator - Progress2 LastIllustrator - Progress3 LastIllustrator - Final

For this picture I mostly stuck to the blob tool - pretty boring, I know. Most of the larger shapes have a subtle vertical gradient and there's a few blurred-out objects to simulate fog. I did a slight bit of color correction in Photoshop in the end to make it a bit more blue.

Street Trash Pattern 2 Street Trash Pattern 1 City Pattern My pattern followed an urban theme, with the main pattern consisting of stylized trash and the complimentary pattern consisting of high rise buildings. I wanted to go for more of a run down, grungy Hong Kong high rise look in the city pattern, but unfortunately due to time restraints and trying to work within the program it came out a little more sterile and cartoony than I would have liked. I also wanted to make the trash one a little more grungy, but I kind of like the way it came out anyway. Despite the little hiccups, I think they both came out relatively well individually. I'm not sure how well they work together, and I'm also not sure about the color I used for the purple one. In the city one, there is a strange layering error that I'm trying to get figured out (if you didn't hear me grunting for the first half of class)and I may go back and add color to it at some point.

Bat Pattern (work in progress)

Soooo, I didn't get as much work done as I would have liked, and I'm not really feeling the colors in my first patterns. But I'm working on a second set of patterns, which is in the screenshot. Mostly just doing vines right now, but I think I'll probably put some sort of creatures and other things on them. I also want to do a different type of pattern besides that one too.

Weapon Pattern

weaponmainpattern weaponmainpattern2 weaponsidepattern

I couldn't decide on a particular season, so I went with summer! I was heavily inspired by concept art I was going through last class and decided to focus on weapon creation. I felt like choosing multiple types of weapons could have made it too busy, so I stuck with making swords.

Patterns

Print Here are my two patterns. My original intention was to have a tessellation pattern for the second one, but I was having some issues with illustrator and couldnt finish it, so i took some of those icons and compiled a new pattern. Below I've posted a progress shot of the tessellation pattern so far, and I'll post the finished product when it's done.

Patterns

patterns4 I wanted to create a pattern that really gave off a feeling of Spring. I tried to go with the cherry blossom motif and created icons to accompany that. For my second pattern I tried to give the damask pattern a try! I had a lot of fun with this project and I'd like to make more in the future!
