I decided to play around with pixel sprite work! Here are some animals dressed up in classic RPG-esque costumes. It was difficult to work with a limited color palette. If I had more time, I think I might want to make the characters in pixels as well.

Pattern project
I decided to play around with pixel sprite work! Here are some animals dressed up in classic RPG-esque costumes. It was difficult to work with a limited color palette. If I had more time, I think I might want to make the characters in pixels as well.
Pattern

I was gone last week so I didn't know what was needed for today. When I tried working on the patter I made before, my illustrator shut down and none of my changes saved. So this is a quick pattern that I did in class.
My finished pattern project
Here is my finished pattern set- I went for a color scheme that could be associated with Autumn. I used the Opacity tool to get a lot more mileage out of the color tones (I included black exclusively for this purpose) and depth effects. I love robots- if you know me well you know it's something I draw up all the time. That said, carrying that over into both Illustrator and a pattern no less proved challenging.
All of the icons I created proved tricky to make into patterns, so regrettably I wound up whittling my way down to the one robotic skull, mixing up it's colors. I made some secondaries besides the spinal columns, but they proved to clutter the patterns too much. That said, I am happy with how both turned out- I am feeling much more confident with using Illustrator.
I think my last concern is that for whatever reason, most of my stuff on Illustrator keeps showing up low-res. Even just taking WIP screenshots with the Mac has them show up a horrible mess (which is why I don't have any WIPs to show this time around) and I'm finding this sudden and incredibly frustrating. I hope to get to the bottom of this and when I do I will be replacing this Flickr with a significantly higher res quality image.
Honeybee Pattern

I made a honeybee/honeycomb pattern, because I really like bees and I guess this could be used to bring attention to the epidemic currently involving bess. I mostly used the pen tool and shape tool. Occasionally I used the smoothing tool for those honey drips. To get the fur texture I used the roughen effect. The biggest issue I had with making this pattern was only using a maximum of eight colors.
Spooky Nature Pattern
For my pattern I was focused on using nature elements, in a kinda creepy way. I did a Death's Head Hawkmoth, a dark rose, a dying leave and a white poppy for my icons. I picked them for their symbolism for death, eternal sleep, misfortune, etc.. As far as making the icons, I mainly used the pen tool with lots of textures and clipping masks. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out.
Patterns
My patterns don't really work together color wise, but I went along with the same theme. My first pattern is the one with the goat skull in it.
I had made in a different class. I wanted to redo it now that I had finished my freshman year and stuff. PROGRESS!
But I made the second pattern because I wanted to make a more organized pattern to put up on the blog here.

Movie Poster
so i decided to make a Rosemary's Baby poster.i mostly used the pen,and the blob brush, but i also made my own type and played with the width tool . i really play with the original super minimalistic poster and make it my own.i kept the green and mountains/rocks, but i ditched the cradle for something more fun.
At first making the text was kinda hard for me to grasp but once i figured it out it was pretty fun.
